Week 1 | Singleness and the Identity No One Can Steal

Where do you find your identity?

In a world constantly telling us who we should be, what we need to be fulfilled, and where our worth is found, the gospel gives us a radically different answer: our identity is secure in Jesus Christ alone.

In this message, Pastor Ryan Rice, Sr. begins our series on singleness by showing that before we talk about relationships, we must first understand who we are in Christ. Paul writes to the church in Colossae, warning them against false teaching that sought to pull them away from the sufficiency of Jesus. His reminder is just as relevant today.

Christ's victory sets us free from sin, gives us a new identity, and secures our future in Him.

This week's message highlights four truths about our identity in Christ:

1️⃣ A Secure Identity Protects Us from Deception

When our identity is rooted in Christ, we are less vulnerable to the lies of culture, false teaching, and the belief that our value depends on relationships, success, or approval. God's Word anchors us in truth.

2️⃣ A Secure Identity Deepens Our Faith and Gratitude

As we continue to walk with Jesus, our roots grow deeper. Instead of chasing fulfillment in people or circumstances, we discover lasting joy, purpose, and thankfulness in Christ alone.

3️⃣ A Secure Identity Keeps Christ at the Center

Whether single or married, our highest calling is to follow Jesus. Every season of life is an opportunity to grow in faith, serve His church, and encourage others in the gospel.

4️⃣ A Secure Identity Rests in the Finished Work of Christ

Jesus is fully God, and in Him we have everything we need. We are not completed by another person. We are already complete in Christ, who fills us with His life, His Spirit, and His hope.

This message reminds us that the greatest protection against the lies of our culture is knowing Jesus, walking with Him daily, and remaining firmly rooted in His Word.
