Week 4 | The Heart of the Harvest

Jan 25, 2026    Ryan Rice, Sr.

Jesus never looked at people as interruptions—He saw them as souls. In The Heart of the Harvest, we are invited to see the world the way Christ sees it: harassed, helpless, and in desperate need of a Shepherd.

In today’s message, Pastor Ryan Rice, Sr. walks us through Matthew 9:35–38, where Jesus teaches, proclaims the good news of the Kingdom, heals the sick, and is moved with deep compassion for the crowds. What He sees moves Him to action—and then to a call for prayer.

This week’s message highlights three clear invitations from Jesus:

1️⃣ Jesus Calls Us to Proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom

The gospel is our message. God leaves His people in the world to be salt and light, proclaiming forgiveness, restoration, and hope through Jesus Christ.

2️⃣ Jesus Calls Us to See and Move in Compassion

Christ’s compassion is not shallow sympathy—it is a deep, gut-level love that moves Him to heal, restore, and weep over the lost. He calls His people to see others not with cynicism, but with mercy and action.

3️⃣ Jesus Calls Us to Pray for Workers

The problem is not the harvest. The harvest is plentiful. The need is laborers—men and women willing to go, to care, and to become the answer to their own prayers.

This message reminds us that prayer is not our last resort—it is our first response. And as we pray to the Lord of the harvest, we must also be willing to go wherever He sends us, whether across the street or across the world.

💬 Reflect & Respond:

Who around you needs the hope of the gospel? Where might God be calling you to move from compassion to action? Are you willing to pray for workers—even if that worker is you?
