Week 2 | Paul, the Example of a Father

Jun 7, 2026    Kyle Sedlacek

What does godly fatherhood look like?

In a culture that often measures success by status, power, or achievement, Scripture presents a very different picture. In 1 Thessalonians 2, the Apostle Paul models the heart of a spiritual father, showing us what it means to lead others with humility, sacrifice, holiness, and purpose.

In this message, Elder Kyle explores Paul's example and challenges us to consider how our lives influence those God has entrusted to our care. Whether you are a father, mentor, leader, or simply seeking to follow Christ faithfully, this passage offers a powerful vision of spiritual leadership.

This week’s message highlights four marks of fatherly leadership:

1️⃣ Fatherly Humility

Paul served others with gentleness and genuine affection. Biblical humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.

2️⃣ Fatherly Hard Work

Paul labored faithfully, working day and night so that nothing would hinder the advance of the gospel.

3️⃣ Fatherly Holiness

A godly father leads through personal integrity, seeking to live a life that is holy, righteous, and blameless before God and others.

4️⃣ Fatherly Helping

Like a loving father with his children, Paul encouraged, exhorted, and challenged believers to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls them into His Kingdom and glory.

At the heart of Paul's ministry was one overarching purpose: to point people to Christ through the gospel. Rather than seeking the approval of people or the temporary things of this world, Paul fixed his eyes on Jesus and faithfully helped others do the same.

This message reminds us that true spiritual leadership is not about position or recognition. It is about faithfully investing in others and helping them follow Christ.

💬 Reflect & Respond:

Who has been a godly influence in your life? How can you encourage, disciple, and invest in others as you follow Jesus?
